Now, Jagex has presented plans to tackle the problem. In a new blog post with the name "The RuneScape Team", the publisher states that "gold purchased through RWT is a concern in all online games that use the possibility of trading currency" and, despite the fact that its "Anti-Cheating Team has taken a number of steps to tackle RWT sellers both inside both the games and outside" the company will be adopting stronger measures as of immediate effect.

Citing a "growing team " and "improved technology", Jagex says it is not just targeting sellers of gold and resources via RWT but as well buyers. The goal is to reduce the demand and the supply.

Jagex has announced that it will be sending "messages to players whom we've found engaging to engage in"RWT" within "the coming hours". "For anyone who has been involved, we want to make clear that this is the single all-encompassing warning" they added.

Other measures that the developer might think of as punishments for RWT actions include wealth removal - essentially getting rid of gains that are not legitimately earned from players' accounts at a server level - and potential bans.

It claims that the number of bans already amount up to "thousands of bans every month".

As a result, the developer appears to be choosing the nuclear choice, saying "we're planning in the future to take the Duel Arena out of RuneScape entirely." Until then it will put in place "some immediate actions" to improve PvP "until our team of developers can release an update major enough to completely takes over the Duel Arena next year."
